Control cabinet manufacturing for industrial companies

CNC machining of enclosures and mounting plates for control cabinets

Gross Schaltschrankbau machines control cabinet enclosures, doors and mounting plates according to approved manufacturing data. Holes, cut-outs, threads and markings create an accurately fitting basis for assembly, component mounting and wiring.

What does Mechanical Machining / CNC include?

Mechanical machining covers the precise production of cut-outs, holes, threads and other contours on enclosures, doors and mounting plates. It is based on approved drawings or CAD/machine data; material, tolerances, surface protection and inspection scope are clarified before manufacturing starts.

Scope of services

Work steps and typical applications

Three machining services and three typical starting points. Which combination suits the project depends on the data status, material and quantity.

Enclosure machining

Cut-outs for operator devices, fans, cable entries and interfaces.

Mounting plates

Holes, threads and contours for DIN rails, ducts and components.

Marking

One-off unit and prototype

Fast implementation of project-specific machining revisions.

Series and assembly

Repeatable machining based on approved data.

Free-issue enclosures

Machining of customer-supplied parts subject to agreed goods receipt and liability rules.

Process

From data set to inspected result

Mechanical machining determines how cleanly all subsequent steps can be carried out. A cut-out offset by just a few millimetres only becomes apparent during assembly – and costs considerably more time there than during the data check.

That is why we start not with the machine but with the data: drawing, revision, material and tolerances are checked before a program is created. We clarify unclear information in advance instead of interpreting it.

Machining is carried out to approved data and inspected against the agreed characteristics. We handle free-issue enclosures according to a goods receipt procedure agreed in advance, so that in the event of damage it remains traceable which condition was delivered.

01

Check the data

Check drawings, dimensions and approval status.

02

Agree on material

Define enclosure type, material and surface finish.

03

Program

Create the machining program from the approved data.

04

Machine

Produce cut-outs, holes, threads and contours.

05

Inspect

Check and document dimensions and critical characteristics.

Required information

Basis for quotation and manufacturing

The more complete this information is, the more reliable the quotation, schedule and inspection scope will be. We clarify missing points before manufacturing starts.

Drawings and material

Tolerances and quantities

Quality assurance

Traceable inspection of defined characteristics

Dimensional checks, deburring and surface protection are inspected and documented against the agreed characteristics.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about Mechanical Machining / CNC

Which data formats are required?

Approved drawings or CAD/machine data with a clear revision status.
Deburring and surface protection depend on the material, operating conditions and project specifications.
