Control cabinet manufacturing for industrial companies

Engineering: end-to-end electrical design for control cabinets and controls

Gross Schaltschrankbau supports industrial companies from the first technical question through design and engineering to production-ready electrical documentation. Services and responsibilities are defined to match the project stage – as a single module or as a coordinated planning chain.

What do planning and engineering cover in control cabinet manufacturing?

Planning and engineering bring together the technical services that turn a task into a reliable, documented basis for control cabinet manufacturing and automation. These include consulting and technical design, project-specific design and engineering, and tailored schematic design. Scope, interfaces, depth of testing and handover formats are agreed for each project.

Early phase

Consulting and a basis for technical decisions

Project phase

Design, overall layout and coordination

Documentation

EPLAN, bills of materials and manufacturing documents

Follow-on

Optionally manufacturing, programming and testing

End-to-end process

From technical clarification to an approved planning basis

The process is the same in every planning project. What differs is the starting point: some projects begin with an open task, others with a specification, and others with a technical concept that has already been approved.

The later you come in, the less room for manoeuvre there is – and the more precise the requirements need to be. With an open task, we first clarify feasibility and boundary conditions; if a concept already exists, we go straight to documentation.

Step 2 is the most important: anyone who does not define scope limits, interfaces and responsibilities in writing will end up negotiating them later under time pressure. The effort required is a matter of hours; the consequential costs of missing demarcation are a matter of days.

The result is an approved status on which manufacturing and testing can build – regardless of whether both are done by us or by you.

01

Understand the task

Capture goals, data status, standards and open issues.

02

Define the scope

Specify scope limits, interfaces, deliverables and responsibilities.

03

Develop the solution

Develop design, engineering and documentation in coordination.

04

Test & hand over

Check the planning status, approve it and make it available for downstream processes.

Scope of services

What is clarified in the project – and what you contribute

The first three columns describe what we work on. The fourth lists the information that has to come from your side so that we can start in a targeted way.

Requirements & Interfaces

What the plant has to do and what it connects to.

Design & Selection

Which technology meets the requirements – and why.

Documentation & Handover

The form in which you receive the result.

What you contribute

Information without which a targeted start is not possible.

Planning with follow-on services

On request, through to a manufactured and tested solution

The engineering services can be ordered on their own or combined with downstream services. This keeps technical decisions, documentation and implementation consistent.

Manufacturing

Physical implementation of the approved documents.

Testing & Quality Assurance

Defined tests, documented results and approvals.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about planning and engineering

Do all planning services have to be ordered together?

No. Consulting, project planning, design, schematic design and PLC programming can be ordered individually or as a coordinated process chain. The right entry point depends on the available data, the project stage and the desired result.
An initial assessment is possible even with incomplete data. Missing information is identified; before binding design decisions are made, assumptions, responsibilities and approvals must be clearly defined.
The electrical documentation is created in EPLAN.
Yes. Switchgear manufacturing as well as testing and quality assurance can follow directly on from the planning, so that decisions, documentation and implementation remain consistent.
That depends on the scope, the number of variants and how mature the requirements are. The approval loop has the greatest influence: if the specification, interfaces and target market are fixed at the start, planning runs through in one go. Open issues that are only clarified during design extend the process disproportionately.
Yes. Existing documents are reviewed for completeness, manufacturability and consistency; we report back queries and deviations before production starts. Whether this results in a revision or just a review note depends on the condition of the documents and your requirements.

Let us assess your project from a technical perspective

Send us your existing documents, quantities, schedule and any special requirements. We will check which services and which manufacturing model fit your situation.
