Control cabinet manufacturing for industrial companies

Quality assurance for control cabinets and electrical assemblies

Gross Schaltschrankbau tests control cabinets and assemblies against the agreed test scope and documents the results traceably. Visual, build, wiring, electrical and functional tests provide certainty before approval, shipment and commissioning.

What do testing and quality assurance include?

We check whether the build, components, marking, wiring, electrical safety and agreed functions correspond to the approved status. The tests required depend on the product, the manufacturer’s role, the target market, standards and contractual scope.

Inspection

Visual, build and wiring inspection

Measurement

Electrical measurements according to the test plan

Function

Functional testing to the agreed extent

Verification

Test report and approval status

Test scope

Test modules and depth of testing

Three test types and three levels of testing. The combination that applies is defined before production starts – a test scope cannot be verified retrospectively.

Visual and build inspection

Check components, labelling, cable routing, degree of protection, fastening and conformity with the drawings.

Electrical testing

Depending on the test plan, carry out protective conductor continuity, continuity, insulation, dielectric strength and other measurements.

Functional test

Test switching sequences, operation, messages, inputs and outputs, safety and communication functions.

In-process inspection

Check critical characteristics during assembly and wiring.

Routine and final testing

Test and record every unit against defined criteria before approval.

Factory acceptance test / FAT

Joint acceptance, simulation and documented approval.

Process

Systematic testing and approval

Testing is not a step at the end, but a chain of checks along the production process. Anything that only shows up in the final test has to be corrected in the fully wired cabinet – where every deviation costs many times more.

The basis is a test specification defined before work starts: which characteristics are tested, against which status, with which equipment and with which documentation? Without this definition, a test result is not reliable.

We test against the approved drawing and build status, not against an expectation. Deviations are documented and reported back instead of being decided in the workshop.

The result is a traceable approval with the agreed evidence – the basis for handover, commissioning and any later queries.

01

Define the test plan

Agree test scope, limit values and responsibilities.

02

Cross-check documents

Verify revision, BOM and target values.

03

Visual inspection

Check build, marking and workmanship.

04

Measure & test

Carry out electrical measurements and functional tests.

05

Record

Document results and record the approval status.

Test basis

Define clearly before work starts

Documents

Regulations

Acceptance

Documentation

Traceable results

A test report is only reliable when test scope, measured values, evaluation and responsibility are clearly assigned.

Test report

Test scope, measured values, evaluation, tester identification, product assignment and approval status.

Deviations

Document, correct, retest and approve findings.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about testing and quality assurance

Which tests are carried out?

The binding scope is defined in the test plan, depending on the product and standards.
Yes. The report states test scope, measured values, evaluation, tester identification, product assignment and approval status.
A joint acceptance with documented approval can be agreed.
